HUMAN ORGAN SMUGGLER CAUGHT IN SRI LANKA'S PRIVATE HOSPITAL KIDNEY RACKET

A new development has occurred in the case of the human organ racket that was exposed at a private hospital in Borella last year. Another suspect has been arrested in connection to the heinous crime, according to the police.

The arrest came after the police received multiple complaints regarding the illegal organ trade. The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) launched a thorough investigation into the matter, and four men and one woman who were victims of the racket came forward to file complaints at the Borella Police station.

Investigations revealed that the racket was targeting individuals from poverty-stricken families to obtain kidneys, and had failed to pay the promised amount following the operations.

The CCD made a breakthrough yesterday (30) by apprehending a 53-year-old man from Kollonawa, Wellampitiya, who allegedly acted as a broker between the hospital and potential victims. The police have also confiscated two mobile phones from the suspect’s possession.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court today, according to police reports. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the human organ racket and are working to bring all those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.
