Actor Sudaththa Thilakasiri made headlines today as he carried out a unique money collection process in an effort to help former President Maithripala Sirisena pay Rs. 100 million in compensation to the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
The move came after the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka ordered a group of former government officials, including Sirisena, to pay compensation to the victims of the tragic attack on Thursday (12).
Sirisena had revealed that people dear to him had agreed to help him collect the necessary amount to pay the compensation. Enter Sudaththa Thilakasiri, who was seen walking around with a till, collecting money from the public in a satirical manner.
However, despite the humorous approach, the actor was later seen handing over the collected money to former President Sirisena at his residence. It remains to be seen if the collected funds will help Sirisena meet the required compensation amount, but Thilakasiri's unique contribution to the cause has certainly caught the attention of many.
