Tragedy struck in the Kempane, Kalugalahena area in the Panamura
Police Division this morning as a 50-year-old father of two was shot dead while
riding his motorcycle.
According to the Police, the victim had just dropped off his children at school when he was attacked. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the assailant used a locally manufactured firearm to carry out the crime.
The Embilipitiya Magistrate conducted the magisterial inquiry, while the Judicial Medical Officer at the Tangalle Hospital will conduct the postmortem.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear, and the Panamura Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The victim's family and friends are devastated by the sudden loss and are calling for justice to be served. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigations.
