Business tycoon Dhammika Perera is tipped to enter the
parliament through the National List of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP). According to sources, Dhammika
Perera is also expected to take up a ministerial portfolio involving the
investment sector.
Meanwhile, SLPP General Secretary MP Sagara
Kariyawasam said that Dhammika Perera’s name has been sent to the National
Election Commission. He said Dhammika Perera will fill the SLPP National
List seat in Parliament which was vacated following the resignation of former
MP Basil Rajapaksa.
A Gazette notification was issued last night
announcing the creation of the two new Ministries of Technology and Investment
Promotion, and Women, Child Affairs, and Social Empowerment. SLPP MP
Pavithra Wanniarachchi is tipped to be appointed as the Minister of Women,
Child Affairs, and Social Empowerment.
The purpose of the National List parliament entry
is to make way for utilitarian intellects and educates who cannot compete on a
vote basis. But how many times has the national
list entry been misused by Gotabaya Government? In the beginning, they took
Jayantha Ketagoda, the Muppet of the Rajapaksa regime. Then Economic hitman
Basi Rajapaksa. Now Dhammika Perera, Who else next?
