The People’s Bank chairman Sujeeva Rajapaksa issued a statement with clarifications referring to defaulted debts of MP Daya Gamage.
Sending this letter is
the first thing PM Ranil Wickramasinghe did as soon as he swore as finance
minister.
However, the letter says“We haven’t
written off the 3 billion debts of Daya Gamage. We are currently going through
the litigation process to recover the due amounts from the respective parties.”
Also, the cope report regarding Peoples Bank Defaulted debts
stated the content. “The total amount of 54 billion defaulted debts yet to be
recovered from 10 leading companies. The list includes leading companies
belonging to UNP Senior leader Daya Gamage’s Daya Apparel Group (3 Billion),
Mendis Arrack —Arjun Aloysius (3.2 Billion), and Yashoda group in the spotlight
with 24 billion.

Mihin
Lanka and Nawaloka Group were also among the top ten. Why are ordinary citizens
harassed when they miss a single repayment in these tough times.
The entire nation is accusing the Bank
officials of their delay in action in the recovery process and expressed the
uncertainty about Prime minister Ranil Wickramasinghe’s debt recovery actions
upon his loyalists.
Also, I suggest the People's Bank and other bank union leaders start action regarding this matter. put pressure on your organization towards correct directions.
